The MAGAZINE programme wanted to make a report to help the abandoned animals of SA COMA, for their adoption and to encourage volunteering.
Carlos Lucas interviews Miguel Quiñones, veterinarian of SA COMA and then Alícia de Amador Founder of Fundación Perros Abandonados in Ibiza.
In the interview the vet of SA COMA explains that in SA COMA when the animals arrive they are given a veterinary check-up, vaccinated, chipped and sterilised, and if they have any pathology (illness) they are treated to cure them.
In the Centre there are more than 50 dogs and about 25 cats waiting for adoption.
Miguel talks about CABEZON a Mastiff dog that arrived because his owner died. CABEZON has a spinal injury that is being assessed for surgery thanks to the collaboration of the volunteers and the Fundación Perros Abandonados en Ibiza.
Then she interviews Alícia de Amador, founder of FUNDACIÓN PERROS ABANDONADOS EN IBIZA (ABANDONED DOGS FOUNDATION IN IBIZA).
Alicia also explains the importance of the collaboration with the GOSSOS FOUNDATION that helps a lot financially (helps to pay many expenses such as sterilization, food etc. donating 5. 000€ a month to SA COMA), as well as ADA Asociación Animales del Alma that helps a lot in adoptions and finds families for many dogs and cats of SA COMA. And finally, also DÚO, Asociación TINI help in adoptions and other associations. She explains the great teamwork of all, with the same goal which is to find a family for abandoned animals and the most beautiful thing is the VOLUNTEERING, because the dogs spend many years in the Centre as there are few adoptions, and the VOLUNTEERING is very important for the dogs to be able to walk every day.
Alícia explains that the Fundacion Perros Abandonados en Ibiza was created in 2015 to help abandoned animals in Ibiza.
CABEZÓN has a spinal injury that needs to be operated on, and the town hall pays for many expenses and vaccinations, but when an operation like CABEZON’s can cost thousands of euros, the Fundación Perros Abandonados en Ibiza covers the costs with donations.
Alícia explains that the enclosure where CABEZON lives was made by our FOUNDATION together with the Ibiza Town Hall in 2015 when it was created, with donations from the Charity Art Auction, an enclosure created so that dogs that are sick or puppies or recently operated on, can be in a special area with a heated room.
Alícia insists that the most beautiful thing is VOLUNTEERING, as the dogs spend many years in SA COMA and need to go for a WALK.
THE SCHEDULE OF SUMMER WALKS IS:
